Coaching acts as a catalyst, as an accelerator, which bring a focus to what’s important.  It is not easy to be clear about what is needed and coaching gives you the spaces to work out what you and your business / organisation needs.

You are surrounded by opinions and criticism and working with a coach provides a place where you can explore ideas without criticism, without judgement. There is not pressure to perform.  You can challenge any limiting beliefs which hold you back from being your best and your happiest.

Coaching helps you identify what is needed and put a concrete plan in place, with a clear timescale and milestones, so that you increase your chances of success.

Working with a coach is motivating and inspiring, where you can really feel like you’re moving forward, making the changes you want to gain the insight you need.  Through consideration of coaching models and strategies from positive psychology, resilience studies, creativity etc you can increase your chances of finding success.

Coaching can be face to face or via Skype.

What is executive coaching?

The International Coaching Federation defines coaching as

“partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.”

There are many types of coaches from health to executive or nutrition, marketing etc and it can all be quite confusing. This blog will give you some insight into the sorts of coaching I get involved in.

An executive coach works with people within organisations. This can be across any industry or profession and although coaches are often sought for their industry experience, this is not necessarily needed as, depending on the situation, an ‘outside’ view from someone with no preconceived ideas or assumptions can be extremely useful.

Coaching for Coaches

Newly qualified and new to the business of coaching?

You may have recently finished your coaching course, or be coming the the end and realising it’s time to think about how you’re going to make your new business a success. Being an excellent, intuitive, well trained coach is super important. As is being able to make a living doing what you’re good at and love. Business skills and coaching skills need to go hand in hand if you’re going to make a proper living and not everyone has a natural mind for business. I’ve been coaching for over 15 years and still love every moment. It’s an enormous privilege to work with all sorts of people and gain insight into the challenges and successes along the way.

Gain skills to ensure your coaching business is a success

From deciding your niche (or not!) and who you want to work with to having a marketing plan to get the word out there and start working, the business side of coaching has to be a focus. Too many coaches train to a high standard, only to find it hugely challenging finding clients. You’ve invested in the training, so it’s worth making sure you recoup your investment quickly. This means being proactive in your networking and making sure your message is clear.

Get in touch to discuss how I can help you set up properly, ensuring you have everything in place to be able to create a successful coaching business. In addition to coaching, I am director of other businesses and have a background in marketing, so I am able to share this knowledge and experience with you.

Thinking of training as a coach?

As with any training, it is no small investment, so being sure that it is something you want to do and will enjoy is pretty important. Making sure you are clear about how you are going to make it work, who you want to work with is vital. Planning ahead makes all the difference. Get clear on how your business will run and what this means for you. Get support during training with any challenges and questions. When you compete your coaching course, you will be clear on what you need to do to hit the ground running. It can be a lonely place, setting up on your own, so having a coach to hold you accountable makes a world of difference.

Your beliefs are not facts

Your beliefs are not facts

This is all about the beliefs that we carry around with us, all about who we are, what we are, what we are capable and not capable of. And how coaching conversations can help challenging the less helpful ones.

Rise above it - find peace

You can rise above it – don’t let them wind you up!

From looking at my podcast analytics, I see that the most popular, most listened to episodes are those around people – whether it’s worrying about what people think or how to work harmoniously with others and be able to manage more challenging individuals without letting it affect you personally.

And this would make sense as pretty much all coaching conversations I have revolve around people.  Colleagues, bosses, teams, customers, clients, friends, family.  Even when the conversation starts with wanting to consider why something’s not working – a system, a plan – after looking at the theory, and what might be getting in the way, we usually come to the people and who might be getting in the way (often it’s the individual themselves and that’s always a relief – so much easier change our own behaviour than that of others).
